"Fencing is like chess at 100 m.p.h."--Instructor Mike Anson
Fencing is one of
the most exhilarating and challenging personal sports. Offense
and defense are alternated
many times inside split seconds. Height, gender, age, and size
are not limiting factors to becoming a good fencer. People who
are short, use it to their advantage to attack underneath an
opponent's guard. Left-handers enjoy just over 50% of the world's
championship titles. What is required to compete in fencing, is a
quick mind, rapid reflexes, and flexibility. Extensive stretching
and repetitive drills are part of the regimen, but the rewards in
one's improved health and mental agility are astounding. Coming
soon--History of fencing, equipment & safety, links!!!!
Instructor Mike Anson slips in a "Touch/kill" to 6 section, under the experienced parry of student Bob Bianco.
This is an attacker's view of an opponent parrying "8" too late.
